Tour de France 2018 Stage 7 Preview


After a couple of rolling profiles Tour de France 2018 returns to largely flat terrain on Friday as Stage 7 takes the riders on a 231km journey from Fougères to Chartres.

Jersey Update:

Dan Martin won Stage 6 on Thursday on a tough hill top finish and there were some time gaps among the main GC contenders with Bardet the biggest loser coughing up around 30 seconds.

The yellow jersey is still on the shoulders of Greg van Avermaet whilst Geraint Thomas is in second just 3 seconds in arrears. The bulk of the overall favourites for yellow are within around 70 seconds or so of the lead.

The Points Classification is still led by Peter Sagan who’s top 10 placing on Thursday stretched his lead over Fernando Gaviria. Sagan now has 199 points and Gaviria 156,

This is the longest stage of the tour but there is only one categorized climb, a Cat 4 half way through the stage which is 1.5 km in length at an average gradient of 3.9%.

It is a stage that really should be for the sprinters but there is a slight rise to the finish and that should favour the likes of Sagan and at the prices slight preference is for Colbrelli.
