West Indies v Pakistan, Second T20 International Preview

Pakistan lead West Indies 1-0 in their four match T20 series and the second contest takes place at Port of Spain Trinidad on Thursday.

West Indies were slight favourites for the first T20 which was staged in Barbados on Sunday but they ran into an inspired debutant in the shape of 18-year old legspinner Shadab Khan who returned figures of 3/7 in his four overs to help his side to a 6 wicket win.

Batting first West Indies were quickly in trouble and Carlos Brathwaite, coming in at no 8 top scored with 34 not out whilst no other West Indies batsman made it to 20. Although Jason Holder took a couple of Pakistan wickets the chase was always under control and Pakistan reached the target in 17.1 overs.

West Indies hit 4 sixes to Pakistan’s 2 and after 6 overs West Indies were 34/1 and Pakistan had reached 40/2. To cap a dream day for the youngster, Shadab Khan was named Man of the Match and the teams now head to Trinidad which will host all three of the remaining matches in the series.

Head to Head

Overall the teams have met 8 times with West Indies winning 2 to Pakistan’s 6.

In head to heads staged in the Caribbean West Indies have won 1 and Pakistan have won 3.
