The PSL takes a break this week as the Nedbank Cup swings into action and the biggest fixture of the week takes place on Wednesday when Wits host Cape Town City.
Wits have climbed off the foot of the PSL table and currently sit 14th after 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 matches. Their most recent match was a 1-1 home draw against Chiefs on the weekend. Wits haven’t got a very strong recent record in the Nedbank Cup bowing out to Jomo Cosmos in the last 16 last year and their best performance in recent years was the semi-finals in 2013/2014. Wits home games have been very low scoring this season and the last 11 matches in all competitions have had 2 goals or less in them.
Cape Town City have slipped down the PSL table somewhat and they are currently 5th after a 1-0 defeat at home to Sundowns last weekend. They bowed out in the first round of the Nedbank Cup last year losing to unknown Acornbush 1-0 away and like Wits their record in this competition does not make stellar reading. Cape Town City’s away games have also tended to be low scoring and the last 5 have delivered for under 2.5 goal backers.
These sides met in the MTN Cup earlier this season with Cape Town City winning both legs to progress 3-1 on aggregate and in the League, Cape Town City beat Wits 1-0 away.

Cape Town City 9/4
Suggested bet: Wits win at 13/10.
Of the two sides I feel that Wits may want this a bit more given they are out of contention for the title and have very little else to play for. Cape Town City by contrast may still fancy themselves at the business end of the PSL and I am not expecting them to be as motivated as their opponents.
